I killed all the Harpys, all those ghost-like enemies, and I opened the room with that Will-o-the-Wisp thing, which I don't know what purpose has. If I examine those yellow dot on the map it say that they are lanterns, but what do I do with them? I've tried using fire magic, but it doesn't seems to work.
I've also seen that shield-like boss, and killed it four times or so, but it always respawn. The hint on the plate just out of the room doesn't help much...
So, what should I do now?

Oh, and also, almost every enemy in the Fortress (expecially that boss) always take 99% of my life with one hit. Is that normal or what...?

Search the area thoroughly for a torch, use it at the fire and light all the other torches

Play through the beginning fortress area until you find 4 blue statues and drop them on the pedestals before fighting the boss

Completely normal ;)

Level up a bit and you'll be able to take the hits like a pro

Yesterday I wasted like a hour searching the area and I didn't find anything

Oh. For a moment I thought I was wearing the wrong armor or somenthing. Well, I don't like powerleveling, so I guess I'll manage for a bit with those spells to strengthen my defense and attack power :sing:

Thanks

If I recall correctly, the torch is in the B2 level of Fortress with all of the harpies. You just need to search the map for places that might just be big enough to house a "one tile" room containing a treasure chest and destroy the weak wall that is hiding it.

And yeah, don't make my mistake and go through the entirety of the Fortress without first filling out that Fortress B1 map. I completely passed it on my first playthrough, missing the shop that sells some of the best equipment in the game.

Good luck!

Oh, I see, I'll try that. Thanks.
And I always try to fill the map as much as possible, so I shouldn't have a problem finding that shop. I think.

I feel a bit silly
I totally missed those breakable walls. And I thought I'd already searched them... And I also was sure that you could reach those areas from Fortress 1 from another place. But noo, I missed another breakable wall there, togheter with the shop inside, which could been extremely useful early on. Oh well at least I shouldn't have problems now.

Thanks again for the help

ME. TOO.

God playing the game in Japanese without a FAQ was such a special experience.

I read some guy's rage story on another forum about how the instructions for purifying Big Dipper were not clear. While I agree with him, they're just as cryptic as they were in the Japanese version! In fact I specifically remember telling myself not to make it too obvious or it would ruin what was probably the designers' intention.

Huh, I'm surprised you all missed that breakable wall in Fortress F1. I walked past it too at first, but then checked my map and just knew there had to be more to the floor, so went searching for another breakable wall. Didn't have a problem with Big Dipper's ceremony either, it makes enough sense when you get the items.

What DID get me stuck is the Grotesque Idol stuff. You know how you get the last one after meeting Fred and fighting some reaper thing? That room has a plaque that says something like "arrange the idols in a quadratic manner"... so I thought I had to put them on the floor there! I fooled around with different formation in that room waiting for something to happen for about half an hour before giving up, only to discover later that it was talking about the room with the Shield in it. Blehh.
